Our services: Smart BuildingLighting

A future-ready lighting concept for Cobofisk’s renovated offices in Merelbeke, with comfort, flexibility and design as the foundation.

Cobofisk invested in a thorough renovation of its office environment in Merelbeke. Workspaces, meeting rooms, social areas and circulation zones were completely redesigned, with one clear ambition: to create a modern working environment where comfort, experience, functionality and design come together.

Lighting played a key role in this transformation. Not as a final finishing layer, but as an integral part of the interior concept. A carefully designed lighting solution that enhances how each space looks, feels and functions.

The challenge: one lighting concept, multiple needs

An office consists of many different spaces, each with its own purpose. Focused work requires different lighting than meetings, informal conversations or moments of relaxation.

The lighting concept therefore needed to create different atmospheres, tailored to the use of each space. At the same time, the overall experience had to remain visually consistent throughout the office.

On top of that, the lighting had to be integrated into a broader renovation project involving multiple contractors and technical disciplines. Architecture, interior design, building technologies and lighting all needed to work together seamlessly within the existing building structure and meet high aesthetic expectations.

The challenge was clear: combine functional office lighting, decorative accents and wellbeing-focused lighting into one coherent concept.

From lighting study to a complete concept

Based on the architectural plans, Project Nekton developed a complete lighting study and integrated lighting concept.

Using lighting simulations, we mapped the required light levels and optimised the selection and positioning of the luminaires. This allowed us to align technical performance and visual comfort with the interior concept from the very beginning.

Project Nekton guided the project from study and engineering through to delivery, installation and commissioning. One point of contact throughout the entire lighting journey, with clear communication and a solution that remains strong from concept to execution.

Our solution: lighting that adapts to the workplace

The result is an integrated lighting concept where functional, architectural and decorative lighting complement each other.

In the workspaces, visual comfort and functionality are key. In other areas, accent lighting and carefully selected design luminaires add warmth and character.

Rather than applying a standard solution throughout the entire office, every lighting choice was tailored to the function and atmosphere of each space.

Tunable white for additional comfort and flexibility

With tunable white lighting, the colour temperature can be adjusted according to the needs of the environment.

This gives Cobofisk additional flexibility to create different lighting atmospheres and better adapt the lighting to the moment, the space or the activity.

Lighting is no longer a fixed element, but an active part of a comfortable working environment.

NatureConnect for a more natural lighting experience

To further support employee wellbeing, NatureConnect technology by Signify was integrated.

NatureConnect creates a more natural indoor lighting experience and brings elements of daylight closer to the workplace.

Within Cobofisk’s offices, this technology adds an extra layer to the overall concept, with attention to both comfort and experience.

DALI as a flexible foundation

The complete installation was implemented as a DALI project.

This provides Cobofisk with a flexible technical foundation for lighting control today, while ensuring the system is ready for future adjustments, expansions and further automation.

This flexibility is essential in an office environment that continues to evolve. Spaces change, teams move and new needs emerge. Thanks to the chosen infrastructure, the lighting system can grow along with the organisation.

Close collaboration from concept to completion

An integrated project only succeeds when all involved parties work towards the same goal.

For the interior design and overall project coordination, Project Nekton worked closely with Memo Koncept. Project Nekton was responsible for the lighting design and project guidance.

For the lighting solutions, we collaborated with partners including Signify, LedsC4 and Tridonic, complemented by various suppliers of decorative luminaires. The technical execution was carried out in collaboration with specialised contractors involved in the renovation project.

By carefully aligning architecture, interior design, building technologies and lighting throughout the entire process, the original concept was translated into a finished installation without compromising on aesthetics or functionality.

The result: ready for today and tomorrow

The renovated Cobofisk office is now a modern and future-oriented working environment where lighting actively contributes to comfort, wellbeing and appearance.

Different layers of light create the right atmosphere for different activities, while the integrated DALI infrastructure provides the flexibility to further adapt and automate the system in the future.

This brings design, functionality and ease of use together in one coherent lighting concept.

Because good office lighting does more than provide sufficient illumination. It makes a workplace more enjoyable to work in, easier to adapt and stronger in overall experience.

“The result is something to be proud of. Thank you!”

— Patrick Christiaens, Memo Koncept
