Why do we collect this data?

Project Nekton collects data to use it for various purposes, but the main reason is to provide you with an efficient, optimized and user-friendly website experience.

Specifically, we collect (personal) data from you for the following reasons:

  • We use Google Analytics to collect and analyze information about how our website is used, which in turn helps us understand which pages are most popular, how people find our site, and which browsers and devices are used most often. We use these insights to improve the overall user experience of our website.
Using the Facebook Pixel, we can create targeted ads on Facebook for our past website visitors without even knowing who you are. This helps us target people who have already shown interest in our website, services or products, and so we don’t have to show people irrelevant ads. The Facebook pixel code also helps us measure the effectiveness of our ads, by linking an action on our website (e.g., submitting the contact form) to an ad campaign, so we can track what works and what doesn’t.
  • When you contact us through our website, anonymized data may be sent to WPForms, the contact form plugin we use, so they can track the technical performance of our website forms and detect and prevent any technical problems.
  • We also use a WordPress plugin called WordFence, which helps protect our website from malware, unauthorized login attempts and other security threats. This plugin may use cookies to store information about failed login attempts, your IP address or other security-related data to help us better protect our website.

Who has access to your data?

The data that we collect from you are stored on a server hosted by our partner Combell. They are the driving force behind our website and make sure it is easily accessible, fast, reliable, convenient and secure.

Like us, Combell takes your privacy and online security very seriously, and will protect your data with the same care. You can read more about this in their privacy policy.

Besides Combell, our website also uses a number of plugins to offer you additional functions and content. These companies can also process your personal data. Of course, we make sure that any external firm, developer or provider we work with for our website complies with the same strict GDPR regulations and requirements.

The following third parties are involved in collecting our website data: Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel ,WPForms, WordFence. Each link will take you to their respective privacy policy page.

You must be notified before the restriction is lifted.

U heeft het recht om de gegevens die u ons heeft verstrekt in een gestructureerde, bruikbare en machineleesbare vorm te verkrijgen. Zo kan u de gegevens eenvoudig overdragen aan een andere gegevensverwerker.

5. Right to withdraw consent

Your consent can be withdrawn at any time. Naturally, this only affects the data we have obtained purely on the basis of your consent. The data that we obtain or have to keep on the basis of a legal obligation (e.g. accounting) or on the basis of a contract (e.g. we still have to deliver your service or product) are thus excluded from this.

6. Complaints

Complaints about the way we process your data can be reported to the Belgian Commission for the Protection of Privacy: http://www.privacycommission.be.

Processing time

When you request us to access, transfer, delete or correct the data we hold about you, we ask that you give us up to 30 days to process the request. We always do our best to respond as quickly as possible, but some requests may take longer, depending on the complexity and extent of the data involved.

Links to external websites

Finally, we would like to inform you that that our website may contain links to third-party websites. A link does not automatically mean that there is a connection between us and the other websites, nor that we (implicitly) endorse the content of these websites.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites. Once you click on an external link, you will leave our website and we cannot be held liable for any damages. We recommend that you always carefully read the privacy policy of each website you visit.

Changes to this policy

As we continue to improve our website on a regular basis, we may need to update our privacy and cookie policy from time to time.
